Pupils move into architect’s first completed project in England

This week 1,200 secondary school pupils moved into the £38m Zaha Hadid-designed academy in Brixton, south London.

Evelyn Grace Academy is the architect’s first completed project in England. The design is in keeping with academy sponsor Ark’s ethos of dividing large schools into small units in a bid to improve behaviour and standards; here there are four small schools.

The contractor was Mace Plus, the engineer was Arup and QS Davis Langdon.
