Home Secretary Jack Straw recently opened Guide Security Services' latest video response centre at Walker Park in Blackburn in front of an invited audience of police, insurance and security management specialists.
The remote monitoring concern claims it has never had occasion to transmit a false call to police since it began operating in 1996 as alarm signals are verified by CCTV images.

The false alarms rate generated by conventional intruder alarms still stands at around 95%. As a result, the Association of Chief Police Officers recently amended its intruder alarms policy, requiring response centres to introduce confirmation technology at their customer's premises from October 2001.
