Facilities managers' pay has risen by an average of 13 per cent in the last year, says the Facilities Recruitment Limited salary survey.
The survey, based on responses from 350 facilities professionals during October and November 2000, highlights regional variations in salary levels with facilities managers in London averaging £34,500 compared to those in the north averaging £25,200. The total average package for the UK was £38,418.

Higher up the career ladder senior facilities managers in London averaged £39,520 and those in the north £37, 800. The average salary for facilities directors across the UK came out at £54,762 with a total package of £64,162.

Three quarters of senior facilities managers and 53 per cent of facilities managers get a company car, the study found.

Assistant facilities managers can expect an average bonus of £1,200, rising to £9,400 for facilities directors.
