Residents from Northampton are having to travel more than 50 miles for specialist housing legal advice, according to former junior housing minister and local MP Sally Keeble.
The news follows the disclosure in Housing Today that some parts of England have no specialist housing lawyers (HT 7 February, page 12).

Keeble said: “Our local lawyers are not specialised in dealing with housing cases so when constituents come to see me I sometimes have to refer them to a lawyer in Birmingham.”

Northampton’s Citizens’ Advice Bureau and charity Shelter have made a bid of £300,000 to the Community Fund so the area can employ a specialist.
