Northern star: The Northern Ireland Executive is poised to bring the independent Northern Ireland Housing Executive back under its control, first minister David Trimble said in his conference opening speech.
The move will coincide with a £200m investment in the province's social housing. The cash will come from the Treasury and the executive and will be administered by a newly established strategic investment agency.
Trimble also said a number of large-scale regeneration projects were set to go ahead across Northern Ireland after the Treasury gave the province several decommissioned Ministry of Defence sites.
