Thermalite has made two modifications to its Trenchblock aircrete foundation blocks to make them easier to lift and place.
Each block now has a handhold near the top of each perp-end, making it faster as well as safer for bricklayers to lift them into position. Tongue and groove joints also allow the blocks to be slotted together easily in one simple installation process. And because the perp-ends don't need mortaring, joining the blocks together is quicker and cheaper.

Trenchblock comes in strengths of 4N/mm2 and 7N/mm2, with a thermal conductivity of 0.16W/mK and 0.19W/mK respectively. The blocks are 440mm long by 215mm or 140mm high and 255mm or 300mm thick (275mm or 355mm for the high-strength variety). The bigger blocks still weigh less than 20kg – the HSE's recommended maximum weight limit for manual handling.
