Mr Mullarkey served for nearly 17 years in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was awarded the MBE for his services as Director of UN Humanitarian Operations in Rwanda. Subsequently he spent five years as General Manager of the XVII Commonwealth Games project.
The new figurehead for NACOSS and ICON said:"I am pleased and proud to be joining NSI at this crucial stage in the development of the industry, following the Private Security Industry Act of last year. The role of an efficient and professional security sector in the success of our country's economy has been amply demonstrated by recent events. NSI is committed to raising standards in every security arena in the UK."
Meanwhile, the NSI has achieved UKAS accreditation for EN 45011 Product Certification for Intruder Alarms, which relates to the ACPO/ABI sector scheme. Achieving 45011 means that both NACOSS and ICON continue to comply with the revised ACPO intruder alarm policy as well as the requirements of the insurers.
