The ODPM has announced that the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, made in June 2005, will come into force in October 2006.

The new rules were due to come into force in April but the date was deferred to give business and stakeholders time to prepare.

Jim Fitzpatrick, ODPM minister responsible for fire safety, said: "We will work with stakeholders to ensure that all those affected by the new rules have the support that they need."
