When London secured the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it marked the beginning of one of the biggest construction and regeneration initiatives in Europe.
With this comes a massive opportunity for the construction industry as billions are invested in new infrastructure, stadia and arenas, and housing.
To provide an overview of these proposed developments intended to help firms interested in bidding for some of this work, Construct UK has published a 22-page booklet providing details of the main projects, along with information about existing venues where both permanent and temporary works are required and key transport development plans.
The booklet incorporates a project timetable, a note of the long term plans for the selected venues, contact information and a guide to the main participating companies. It also provides details of the status of various schemes - some of those featured in the publication include the International Broadcasting Centre, worth an estimated £121m, the Olympic Stadium (£254m), the Olympic Village (£590m), the Velodrome (£30m) plus a number of smaller schemes such as the £7.5m BMX circuit and facilities for the equestrian and modern pentathlon in Greenwich Park (£8m).
