Construction inflation in London and the South East could increase by a further 1-2% in London and the South East if the capital wins its bid to host the 2012 Olympics.

Davis Langdon partner Simon Rawlinson said his firm was advising clients that demand in the area could lead to the further cost inflation. Rawlinson stressed that predicting future market conditions for construction was difficult. The workload expected to deliver the Olympics in the capital has been put at over £8bn. A decision on the host is due next month.
