On its way out: This eight-year-old £1m social housing development is to be demolished after vandalism and low demand rendered it uninhabitable.
The Agecroft Gardens estate in Middlesbrough was built by English Churches Housing Group in 1994 with a £700,000 Housing Corporation grant. But when demand for its 20 one-bedroom homes collapsed, it was targeted by vandals. Council officials blamed "radical and dramatic changes in tenure profiles," for its unpopularity.
