Orbis Property Protection, part of Orbis plc, has made two new appointments at Director level.
Simon Broadbent, previously the Product Group Manager (Alarms), becomes Sales Director. He will continue to be responsible for the development of the alarm business and will launch new initiatives throughout the year. Meanwhile, Andrew Mapstone, previously the Marketing and Business Development Manager, becomes Marketing Director.
He will continue to develop services for protecting vacant properties in both the public and commercial sectors in the UK and Europe.
Major move
With 15 years' technical sales, product marketing and management experience within the electronic security and CCTV surveillance industries, Simon Whitehouse, previously Commercial Director with Link CCTV Systems, has joined Quadrant Video Systems plc as Major Systems Manager.
Simon will focus on the 'new business development' of large-scale single site, and networked CCTV, access control and perimeter intruder detection systems.
Triple promotion
Ken Fraser, Richard Jaggers and Barrie Williams have been appointed Directors of Orbis Property Protection by Orbis plc. They were previously Regional Managers.
They retain their existing territories, which divide the UK and the Republic of Ireland into three: Ken is responsible for the North from offices in Glasgow; Richard covers Central from offices in Birmingham; while Barrie covers the South from offices in Dartford.
Technical supporter
Martin McCabe is the new Technical Support & Operations Manager at the UTP video transmission equipment manufacturer, Network Video Technologies UK (NVT).
Martin, whose experience spans technical support and management roles within the Metropolitan Police's Security Systems Branch, Video Tape Analysis Laboratory and CCTV manufacturing, will be responsible for all aspects of NVT UK's technical product and training support function.
Integration with RFL
RFL Communi- cations, the systems integration company and supplier of digital video solutions to the world's transportation markets, has appointed Michael Gallagher as its new Product Sales Manager for the UK and European markets.
Michael, who previously worked for COE Ltd, will concentrate on providing networking services for new and expanding applications.
German sales support
Chris Kugel has joined Merit Li-Lin's team as National Sales Executive for Germany.
Chris, who has 15 years of experience in the German CCTV market, is based in Dortmund and responsible for providing support for existing customers as well as expanding business throughout Germany. He will also introduce the many new products due to be launched throughout the year.
PAC man
Russell Lucas, 31, has joined PAC International, the access control systems manufacturer, as Northern Residential Specifier. He previously worked at Shorrock Security, Chubb Alarms and Entrotec, and helped set up Britannia Integrated Systems where he was General Manager. Russell will be concentrating on promoting PAC's Easikey Manager, as well as developing PAC's local authority client base to include private and housing association developers throughout the North of England.
Pam joins the team
Pam Hill has been appointed by VCL, the CCTV manufacturer and distributor, as a second Area Sales Manager for Scotland. She will work as a team with Tom Fleming, who joined the company last year from Norbain. Pam was previously Branch Manager for CSD Professional in Airdrie, and before that was in Area Sales with Digital Audio and ADT Fire & Security, and a Branch Manager with ATH.
11,000 miles from home
When 40-year-old Danna Strydom took over as Chubb Electronic Security's new Managing Director, he had to move home as well – from a continent 11,000 miles away.
Born and educated in South Africa, electrical engineering graduate Danna worked with ICI and Honeywell before taking over management of Chubb's electronic security business there. Within two years, the organisation had expanded to include security personnel, the turnover had tripled and profits increased dramatically. He also became responsible for the entire Southern Africa business, including Chubb Fire.
Good for Goodin
VCL has appointed Melvin Goodin as National Accounts Manager, South. He will take on national and key accounts based in the company's southern operation at High Wycombe.
Melvin had previously risen from joining Gardiner Security as Assistant Branch Manager in 1984, through regional and national management, to become Key Account Sales Director in 1998.
Promotion for Saint
Krypto Security has promoted Tony Saint to Sales & Marketing Director. Tony has worked his way through the ranks of the London-based installer over the past nine years, and will now develop a marketing strategy to widen Krypto's scope.

Recruitment drive
The Leeds-based video networks specialist, COE, has expanded its marketing team with the appointment of three new members. Kathryn Johnson-Newell becomes MARCOM Co-ordinator, responsible for the continuing development of COE’s marketing communications; David Cone joins as Product Marketing Engineer to maintain the company’s product development programme, implement new market strategies, and introduce new solutions incorporating the latest technology; and Stephen Ellis takes on the new role of Bids Manager, responsible for the preparation and completion of COE’s tender process, as well as liaising with other departments to develop bespoke system solutions for consultants and systems integrators.Source
