Elumatec UK Ltd reports a mini-boom as frame makers clamour to join the aluminium fabrication market. A series an open days in November will show visitors the latest advances in machinery and software

Whilst PVC-U sales in the home improvement sector continue to stumble along, aluminium frame fabricators are working flat out. This is largely due to the niche that aluminium now occupies in the commercial glazing markets; whilst PVC-U dominates the home improvement sector it has little presence in commercial windows and facades, for which aluminium remains the material of choice. The sector remains unaffected by the downturn in consumer spending that has taken the legs from home improvement, with most fabricators working flat out to cope with demand.

Elumatec UK Ltd, the British arm of probably the world’s leading manufacturer of frame fabrication machinery, is enjoying the reflected glory of this mini-boom as frame makers clamour to join the market, and those established seek to increase production and operating efficiency.

Increased enquiries

Due to the increase in enquiries for aluminium production technology Elumatec is staging a forum ‘The Future Of Aluminium’ at its Milton Keynes headquarters on November 8th, 9th and 10th that will allow fabricators to see the very latest standalone and integrated aluminium production solutions in action, including ‘the world’s most powerful software management system’ for which the company has recently become a UK agent.

Such a concentration of technology is rare due to the sheer logistical problems with getting so much large capital equipment together in the same place and at the same time. But Elumatec believes that for new and established aluminium fabricators it is essential to see, touch and try its products live and working to fully appreciate its effectiveness, and suitability for their specific requirements.

Exhibition

On show will be three types of CNC machining centres, together with the DG244 and DG 104 double mitre saws that have gained an excellent reputation for accuracy, ease of use and toughness, with ancillary equipment including routers and crimpers.

Software

One of the stars of the show will be Orgadata’s logiKal window production software as used by the world’s biggest frame manufacturers, for which Elumatec has become the UK agent.

logiKal has been designed and written specifically to speed and optimise the production of doors, windows and façades in aluminium, seamlessly linking every element in the design/production chain. It delivers calculations which are clear and easily understood, supports works orders including production plans, suggests order requirements and assists from quotation through to invoicing. The system also provides interfaces to all current and anticipated data formats for design including Autocad.

The Future of Aluminium will be held at Elumatec UK Ltd, 2 Europa Business Park, Maidstone Road, Kingston, Milton Keynes, MK10 0BD on November 8th, 9th and 10th.
