That was one of the many similar comments made at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, venue for the Security Excellence Awards 2000.
More than 250 guests enjoyed a glittering evening with a serious purpose … to honour the industry's high achievers.
Organised by Security Installer and its sister magazine SMT, the awards recognised excellence in the industry and covered all sectors … from installation to security training, from security management to security guarding.
The event was sponsored by BT RedCare, Southern Monitoring Services and Sutton Specialist Risks and was the second annual event to honour those companies and individuals who have striven for excellence.
Compere for the evening was media personality Tony Hawks, who kept guests amused with his stand-up comedy act and ad-lib comments about the finalists.
He congratulated the finalists who had all gone through a process taking almost a year … from the initial application and submission of work to the presentations.
On stage to present the winners with their trophies were Simon Scott, General Manager, BT RedCare; Steve Kimber, MD, Southern Monitoring Services and John Ludley, Director, Sutton Specialist Risks.
They were accompanied by Alan Hyder, Editor, Security Installer, and Brian Sims, Editor, SMT.
