Paramount 2 sees Fortunas raised

The family business looks set to expand its retail and trade customer base by doubling weekly frame production throughout 2004. As well as building on a solid retail base, Paramount 2 aims to boost its trade side supplying frames as well as sealed units throughout the Hull and East Yorkshire area.

George Morrison established the company two years ago with fellow director David Smith after taking over a former business run by a family member.

Paramount 2 employs 11 people at its 3,000ft2 premises on the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate. Among them are George's wife Lesley and nephew Wesley.

Says George: 'We switched to the KS Fortuna 70mm suite from KS Profiles because of its classic good-looking design, as well as being easy to fabricate and fit. We have also had lots of technical support and help during the changeover process, along with on-going back-up and advice.'

Using the pre-gasketted, post-extruded system helps save Paramount 2 around 20% of labour time, enabling it to turn out between 80 and 100 frames per week for the East Yorkshire market and beyond.

Customer service and quality of product are critical to the company's success and George recognises the value customers place on these attributes, as well as the benefits of dealing with a local firm. In this respect, his easterly location is a boon, rather than a drawback.

The continued growth of the company points to further recruitment later in the year. George expects to take on more fabricators in response to anticipated growth, particularly in conservatories which have proved popular in recent years.

George continues: 'We pride ourselves on producing a quality product and offer a five-day turnaround, with a same day emergency window service if required. Our policy of offering a full conservatory service, from brick walls upwards, is popular with customers who want a complete job from one company.'

Paramount's customers are set to benefit from a new decorative suite, including a sculptured sash, available from KS Profiles in March, giving greater versatility and choice in frame design.

According to KS Profiles Sales Director Gary Firth, the new suite also offers their fabricators the ability to maximise opportunities in more market sectors.

He comments: 'As a growing systems company, we are concentrating on increasing our fabricator base throughout the UK by offering specific technical back-up and marketing support tailored to individual companies.'

And if the outlook for Paramount 2 and similar companies is anything to go by, then KS Profiles looks set to be a growing force to be reckoned with during 2004.
