Partnership was the key to a crime reduction scheme at London Underground car parks
TYCO integrated systems installed an "Excellent" solution to London Underground car park problems. And their efforts were inspected by Minister for London Nick Raynsford as well as helping to win the Security Excellence Awards.

Operation Hawkeye was officially launched at the end of January – but the Security Excellence Awards judges spotted it last year and awarded it the Best Partnership Initiative.

The collaboration, involving Tyco Integrated Systems, British Transport Police, London Underground, BT and consultants Roger Preston, followed an award from the Home Office. The scheme received support from Crime Concern, the London Transport Users Committee and the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

‘Operation Hawkeye is an excellent scheme and it should bring real benefit to Londoners’

Operation Hawkeye involved 58 car parks on the LU circuit. Tyco Integrated Systems, formerly Philips Projects, used solely Philips cameras, multiplexers, video matrix switches and VCRs in the £2.2m project, which should be completed by May.

The scheme comprises more than 500 high performance colour CCTV cameras, with customised software at three control centres to provide system integration. Each car park will also have a help point intercom, which communicates back to the British Transport Police stations at West Ham, Finsbury Park and Wembley Park.
