Award-winning Peckham Library has hit the headlines again, this time for all the wrong reasons
The £6.7 million library, flagship of Southwark Council's £265 million regeneration, was closed for four days in January for routine lamp replacement. Electricians had to move shelves and build platforms to gain access to over 200 lamps and health and safety officials told the council that the public would have to be kept away while work was in progress. The Council has ordered an investigation.
