UTP, or telephone wire, has been used as an alternative to coax cable in video security for some time.

Now Pelco has announced its entry into the structured cabling connectivity market with its line of Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) products.

Pelco UTP products can be used to connect cameras to DVRs, matrix switchers and multiplexers, as well as to transport video signals from point to point in any application where coax cable could be installed. It is said to provide a cost effective solution to coax as well as having advantages such as ease of use, immunity to noise and wide availability.
