Petards has acquired the business and some assets of PI Vision Limited and PI Vision Inc.
PI Vision is well known for its Universal Video Management Systems, which was introduced in 2004, and features advanced IP and analogue camera recording, distributed architecture, camera mapping and image replay functions which form the backbone to new or existing CCTV systems.
David Hayes, chief executive of Petards, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for Petards to access the rapidly growing network video recording market and we believe that the UVMS product has the potential to become a leading industry platform."
David Myers, MD of PI Vision Limited – who will join Petards as sales and marketing director – said: "By being part of Petards we will be able to capitalise on the opportunities for the sale of the new UVMS software at a time when video recording for CCTV security is very topical and there is an increasing trend from earlier generation tape-based systems to networked digital systems with all their benefits."
l Reflex has been appointed as sole UK and Eire distributor of the new Primion intelligent access control solution.
Reflex MD John Pye said the company had already sold some systems into "some of the UK's leading financial and educational establishments".
l Video Domain has signed a distribution agreement with ADI for it to distribute Video Domain's new and existing products throughout North America.
Nick LaBella, director of Product management for ADI, said: "We see enormous potential for Video Domain's products throughout North America."
