At the present time, 36 cameras have been installed, with plans for a further nine to 'go live' in the near future.
The system offers high resolution images complete with full frame refresh as standard. The RAID system, meanwhile, allows for instant access to recorded data without any of the delay that's often inherent in digital tape systems.
High integrity storage technology such as that adopted by RAID can retrieve and begin replaying recorded video virtually instantaneously, which is vital when reviewing incidents in areas like town centres and car parking areas.
PI Vision won this particular contract through Guildford-based Photon (TG). It represents the first town centre surveillance system to use RAID Level 5 hard disk drive for the entire archive period – a total of 2.1 Tbytes.
