Piano smashing may be fun, but think of the old folks home first

Speaking as a senior surveyor with a local authority, as a semi-professional musician and with considerable experience of providing facilities for the elderly, I must protest at the picture of your piano smashing picture (Higgins hits the right notes, CM, June). Just think how a piano would brighten up an elderly community common room. Piano smashing may have been trendy in the 80s but please, if you see a piano, try and find it a good home before you raise the sledge hammer!
