Just a few points separate the early leaders in the Pilkington Fantasy Football game. Pick the right formation and you could be heading off for a luxury break as a Manager of the Month winner
If you’ve got a team packed with Chelsea players in the Pilkington Fantasy Football game, no doubt you’re flying high. Unsurprisingly Chelsea players are netting points for fantasy league managers, with the likes of Frank Lampard, Peter Cech and John Terry all performing impressively.
Perhaps surprisingly, Charlton and Man City are enjoying the rarefied air of the Premiership pinnacle. Players such as Joey Barton, Darren Bent, Stephan Anderson and Claudio Reyna are all in-form. Can they continue with this impressive streak or is a slump around the corner? There are some tough decisions to make.
With the creation of a mini league Mervyn Raby from Uniglaze 2 (East Anglia) Ltd in Norwich has seen the game create some friendly rivalry amongst the work force.
He comments: ‘One of the more intriguing elements we’ve found is picking a strong team with the money available. It’s a real juggling act. Obviously we all want Chelsea players, but like the real thing, they’re overpriced and out of reach of most people’s budgets.
‘It’s terrific fun though and it’s the talk of the office and factory. Everyone is enjoying it as the competition hots up.
‘The people in the company who are playing the game have developed a really strong competitive streak since the Premiership kicked off. The banter on Monday mornings is all about their fantasy football performance over the weekend. Team managers are rooting for teams and players that they don’t normally support.’
One of the key things about this game is that it offers the chance to win a prize on a monthly basis, so it doesn’t really matter when you join in.
Totally free, it’s an exclusive competition for those in the glass and glazing industry. Go to www.pilkington.com/fantasyfootball and pick a dream team and work out which players from the Premiership will fire you to glory. Take part in the overall event and have some mischief by beating the teams of your friends and colleagues in the mini leagues.
Up to 1,000 teams have entered but just a few points separate the early leaders. Donsons Devils is battling away with championship contenders, Sing When We’re Fishing. Showing some feminine cunning are Mrs Kay Newman and Mrs Rosemary Mutch from Pilkington Cumbernauld, who are both in the top ten.
With the stars of the Premiership to choose from, pick the right formation, get the most points on the board and you will be heading off for a luxury break as a manager of the month to a Marriott Hotel*.
The manager who accumulates the most points over the course of the season will win a trip for two to any sporting event of their choice**, whether it’s a massive football game, cricket series, golfing tournament, Wimbledon or crucial rugby match. The winner will be treated to a corporate hospitality package courtesy of Pilkington, enabling them to enjoy the occasion in style.
