The installation of an ABB drive in a semiconductor firm's water mains pumping system has reduced the pump duty by 60%.
When manufacturer SEH Europe installed new machinery at its plant, problems in its water main caused a severe pressure drop and water hammer in the delivery lines to the machines.
Water control specialist Proshield recommended the use of a variable speed drive from ABB Drives' alliance partner ADC (Scotland). A Comp-AC drive was chosen for its ease of programming and the suitability of its control algorithm to the application, which is set to match supply to demand.
The energy saving produced by the installation of the drive by Proshield is estimated to have a payback time of 16 months.
