The first residential integrated heating and cooling air system for the domestic market has been launched by Advantica and Unionaire. The Aermec Idrosplit Residential Air Conditioning System consists of a small electric air-cooled water chiller and a standard gas-fired boiler. Heating and cooling is provided via fan coil units instead of radiators, which the manufacturer claims makes Idrosplit cheaper and smaller than rival commercial systems. The system is expected to cost around £3000 per dwelling, and is currently being tested by Beazer Homes.
