Your September editorial refers to the uniting of the Heating and Ventilating Engineering Society and the Illuminating Engineering Society.

With respect, this is inaccurate. It was the union of the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers with the Illuminating Engineering Society. The IHVE applied for and finally obtained the royal charter.
