Pointer, one of the first installation companies in the UK to achieve Investors in People recognition, has achieved the second renewal of its accreditation, lasting until September 2005.
Due to the leading edge nature of its technology, the Glasgow-based company does most of its training in-house and has seen the benefit in higher efficiency, improved system up time and customer retention.

Training manager Hugh Lawson explained: "Technology within the security industry is advancing rapidly. As a pioneer in the integration of equipment from leading European, Japanese and US companies, we could not find external training providers sufficiently advanced in this area to meet our needs and so we developed our own accredited training school."

The programme reaches from apprentices to senior management. Last year, nine apprentices achieved NVQ Level Three after following an intensive in-house delivered programme.

One senior manager is following an MBA programme with company support and HR manager Carol Harkins has advanced from administrative assistant to her present post by company sponsorship to attain qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
