Established in 1965, the privately-funded Anglo European College in Bournemouth was the first of its kind in Europe to offer full-time chiropractic degree courses with accreditation from the European CCE.

When the time came for a security upgrade at the Grade II-listed college, Kantech Systems was called in to provide an access control system that could accommodate no less than 8,000 card holders and anything up to 64 separate readers.

Installed by Dorset-based BBS Security Systems, the set-up comprises Kantech's KT-300 door controllers, Polaris mag-stripe readers, WinPass operating software and T-Rex exit detectors for hands-free exiting.

As the access control system is run on the WinPass software, this allows the college's security team to build-in expiry dates for each of the student cards.

After a given individual's course is over, their card will become invalid. This saves a great deal of management time, as cards do not need to be collected or removed from the central system. In this way, no unauthorised people can access the building.
