Poole Housing Partnership has put the needs of its residents at the forefront of a door replacement scheme with the help of Manse Masterdor ltd and leading fenestration contractor Radway Door and Windows Limited.
Thanks to the wide range of made to measure Masterdors available, residents were given the choice of four door styles, two colour choices and four glazing options in order to personalise their homes. The programme will see more than 2,000 doors replaced over a five year period, as part of Poole Housing Partnership’s £35.4 million improvement works to bring its homes in line with the Decent Homes standard, which also includes modernised kitchens and bathrooms and improved heating systems.
Clear objectives
Mark Jones, Technical Services Manager for Poole Housing Partnership, commented, ‘We have very clear customer objectives to empower our residents and to shape the service they receive, and we are dedicated to providing maximum choice.
‘Radway was able to deliver a comprehensive presentation demonstrating the new doors to the Resident Consultation Panel and to involve them in the decision-making via the Masterdor Resident Choice brochures.
‘The feedback from the residents has been very positive about the Masterdors – our residents say they feel safer and warmer.’
Recommended
Masterdors were recommended for the replacement project by Dorset Police as they are Police Preferred Specification and meet Secured By Design standards. The Poole Division Crime Prevention & Architectural Liaison Officer said of the new Masterdors, ‘the doors are very solid, offer good looks and overall have a good level of security.’
Masterdors are ‘ideal’ for refurbishment work as each one is made to measure, thus fitting perfectly into the existing opening without the need for packing or cutting which could effect the stability of the door.
Compliant
Manse Masterdor ltd can now also supply fully Part M compliant doors to fit into existing standard brick openings of 927mm. This means that openings do not have to be widened to accommodate the 800mm clear opening width required by the DDA for disabled access, and allow residents to remain in their homes.
Masterdors exceeded PAS23/24 BSi tests, and fire-check versions have also been successfully tested, and achieved BS476 Part 22.
John Park-Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Radway comments:
‘Radway and Masterdor have built up an extremely strong working partnership and are able to provide products and services of the highest quality to meet the needs of the Social Housing Sector. The success of the programme at Poole is evidence of our commitment to clients and residents.’
Radway offers a full suite of PVC-U, timber, aluminium and timber engineered products to the public sector.
