Polypipe has made the made the following statement about its decision to close Premier Profiles and pull out of PVC-U window systems:

Mike Semens-Flanagan, Managing Director, Premier Profiles commented:

‘Due to the many adverse trading conditions facing the business, Premier Profiles suffered significant financial losses in 2004. We have subsequently carried out a full strategic review of the business and it is with great regret that, with further losses predicted, we have advised staff and customers that we propose to close the business.

‘Our priority at the moment is to consult with our employees in order to discuss the impact of this proposal. If it is agreed, it is anticipated that 220 redundancies will be made at our Warmsworth site in Doncaster.

‘All employees are being consulted and will be given access to recruitment specialists to help place them in new jobs within the area.

‘The decision to propose the closure of the company has not been taken lightly and is a response to cost and competitive pressures on the business.’
