So “prefabrication came along in the 1960s” did it? (‘Cure-all concept?’ Construction Manager, June, p25). Well, well, well! So what were the cosy little aluminium bungalows we put up just after the war? We called them prefabs.

And how come I joined, at the beginning of 1960, a well-established company with three factories that produced large concrete panel bungalows, houses, multi-storey flats and village halls? I’m sure that could be called prefabrication too.
