It is with great pride that I take on the role of president of the ECA. Firstly, I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor Bill Wright for his hard work and commitment throughout his term in office.

Among the many important issues that Bill brought to the fore was how change can positively influence the commercial success of our business. I intend to build on that theme of change.

It is important for the ECA to lead legislative discussion at every stage, from consultation to implementation, to ensure that any change works to improve standards within the industry and at the same time benefit ECA members.

New technologies, environmental issues, health, safety and education and training will all be high on the agenda this year. A key issue for me is profitability, which is undoubtedly of great importance to contractors of all sizes. As an industry we must continue to improve our processes to reduce waste and develop new manufacturing and installation methods to ‘get it right first time'.

I look forward to working together with ECA staff throughout what promises to be an exciting year.
