DVD recorder

BRSL has launched its new Sony DVO-1000MD DVD recorder, which it says is "the ideal replacement for older VHS or S-VHS tape-based machines".

"Recordings can be made without the cumbersome operation of searching for a blank area of media and without worrying about overwriting other recordings," BRSL says. "Recordings can be randomly accessed for instant replay.

"The machine adopts the DVD + RW format, offering re-write capability on inexpensive media. While other DVD formats require a 'finalise' process after recording, which can take a considerable time, this format eliminates it, reducing the wait time to eject and re-load a disk ready for subsequent recording."

Easy for JVC

JVC has added an 'Easy Day/Night' colour off feature to its TK-WD310E(B) camera, enabling it to automatically use colour mode when a subject in the image is bright, and black and white mode when it is very dark.

In B&W mode, the camera reproduces images as low as 0.25 lux, and even lower when the slow shutter is activated. The AGC function is always active, and the camera produces clear, easy to view pictures in extremely low light conditions, JVC says.

The camera also incorporates a wide dynamic range imaging device that accurately reproduces natural colour tones and responds immediately to high contrast and sudden variations in lighting.

Flexible searching

Dowshu has added "instant replay" search to its DVR functionality. When an event is seen, "instant replay" search enables the operator to play back recorded video in reverse until the critical event is reached. Play back video is displayed in the same full screen or multi-screen setting current at the time of activation. All other predefined recording parameters remain unaffected.

Dowshu DVRs allow users to search for critical CCTV data by Time and Date; Object, when motion occurs within prescribed areas of a screen; Preview, which narrows 24 hours of video to a one minute section in 3 mouse clicks; Status, viewing peak times of activity; Index, showing all instant record data; and Panorama, which allows separate interrogation of each frame in a video clip, displaying them in sequence in a multi-screen view.

Dual sensor

GE's new Dual Technology RCR-REX (Range Controlled Radar Request-to-Exit) sensor combines Doppler Range Controlled Radar motion sensing and Fresnel lens PIR technology, all in one unit for improved security.

The dual technology in GE's RCR-REX sensor triggers the door latch quickly, allowing easy egress while providing other benefits including limiting the number of people allowed in or out and the length of time the door can be opened. The RCR-REX contains a built-in sounder that results in a local warning that the door is not sealed if the door is left unlocked too long.

GE's new RCR-REX sensor mounts simply to the wall and provides a swing-open cover for easy access. It features two form C output relay contacts, independent adjustment for the PIR and RCR, including a mask for easy adjustment of the PIR field of view, user-programmable lock relay activation times with easy-to-change DIP switch settings, LED indicator and a tamper switch.

Discrete PIR

Honeywell has introduced the new IS215TQ quad element, a passive infrared motion sensor that conforms to the new Euro standards EN50131-1 Grade 2, Class II.

"Like having two detectors in one small discrete unit, the IS215TQ is a robust PIR ideal for small commercial or residential premises," Honeywell says. "As with all Honeywell sensors, it is easy to install - with direct in line switch programming and mounting flexibility on walls and corners for full coverage.

"It features the IntelliSense patented look-down mirror, giving an optimum detection pattern directly beneath the sensor. It also includes a solid state relay providing silent operation for quiet environments and a tamper proof design, as the alarm relay cannot be tampered with using a magnet."

Lighting flexibility

Raytec has launched a new range of Adaptive Illumination lighting products which "allow installers to manually adjust the output angle of CCTV lighting for the first time".

The company says that using Adaptive Illumination, installers have total flexibility to adjust the output angle from an illuminator easily and quickly to suit the unique needs of each individual installation.

Raytec says: "It is important that installers have the flexibility to alter CCTV lighting on site to meet any changes in the system design.

"For years, varifocal lensing has provided this flexibility to cameras, but illumination has been fixed at one output angle.
"Raytec's technology provides maximum flexibility to CCTV lighting products for the first time, allowing installers to confidently match the angle of illumination to the Field of View of the camera on-site, without any prior calculations."
