Daitem has introduced slimline detectors for its new Espace wirefree alarm system which, it claims, is the largest totally wirefree alarm on the UK market with up to 80 alarm points and eight separate partitions.

In addition to its PIR detector for volumetric protection and contact detectors there is now a pet motion detector, passageway and curtain motion detector, dual technology motion detector and a smoke detector.

The four motion detectors can be programmed for different activation levels from discrete pre-alert to full intrusion alarm. They also feature a built in temperature sensor that can act as a fire alarm or as a technical alarm if the temperature suddenly drops below 5 deg C.

Someone's in

Said to be quick and easy to install, the Wireless Home Protection System from Challenger is an automated battery operated home security system designed to give the impression the property is occupied.

Because it uses wireless radio frequency technology, there is no need for cabling. This simplifies and speeds up installation and allows detectors to be sited in otherwise difficult places.

Starter kits have a PIR detector, remote keyfob controller, 230W AC receiver for external lighting capable of switching up to 2Kw incandescent and 1Kw fluorescent lamps. Also available are plug-in receivers for interior lighting and table lamps.

Power saver

Cranford Controls has introduced a 12V DC version of its established 24VDC Vantage fire sounder, strobe and combination audible visual units.

The two-stage sounders have 32 selectable tones with variable outputs from 91dB (A) to 111dB (A) at one metre, selectable via an onboard DIL switch.

They are said to be particularly capable at higher frequencies more often used in security applications. Beacons draw only 10 or 6mA at 12V, potentially reducing the size of the battery back-up required.

Current cutter

Symphoni AV is a new unit from Fulleon designed to recognise the increasing need for combined visual and audible signals in fire detection systems.

It combines a sounder with the drive circuitry of the Solista LED beacon. This results in a wall mounted audio-visual alarm which requires very little current - only 7mA for a performance equivalent to the output of a Fulleon Flashni (requiring 68mA at 24V).

Easy electrics

Electrical plans can be created in a simple way with an entry level software package from IGE+XAO Group.

See Electrical LT is a computer aided drawing package targeted at those users who need to produce less complex electrical plans and those who only need to use an electrical CAD package occasionally.

Users have available hundreds of symbols to construct standardised electrical schematics. Once design is complete it can create a parts list that can be exported to an external spreadsheet or database. Software can be upgraded for more complex designs.

Don't panic

Bosch Security Systems has created an interface between the company's range of fire panels and its Personal Security, Dect (digital enhanced cordless telecommunications) and Paging System.

The company says linking both systems allows fast response to fire alarms and the likelihood of panic is reduced to a minimum by sending the alarm to selected personnel via their pager or Dect handset.

By using the system, information on the location of a fire can be transmitted discreetly to appointed paging recipients. A further advantage is the fast identification of false alarms. The fir alarm control system and the paging system's Alpha Desk Server are interfaced via a monitored RS232 serial connection.

Security can lead to revenue!

Public transport operators can tap into lucrative advertising revenue without having to buy extra equipment by using TransVu Media, a variant of Dedicated Micros' mobile DVR system.

For instance, advertising on buses can be provided via a spot monitor output to onboard display screens whilst the unit is simultaneously recording security CCTV from inside the cabin.

Advertisements or timetable information can be displayed and, using GPS co-ordinates, screens can be triggered to play specific messages when passing local shops or areas of interest.

The driver also has his own mounted full screen display with sequencing and alarm functions. On returning to depot, TransVu auto-uploads recordings to PC via a wi-fi connection .

The request for this additional function of TransVu came from bus company Arriva, and integrators, Chubb. Now DM expects other public transport operators to select this solution to combine security and promotion.

Events re-lived in full

Events can be reviewed time and time again using different views and screen formats to ensure nothing has been missed with the new Vista eclipse DVR.

The unit allows operators to experience all the live features of the eclipse 360 deg camera in playback including full retrospective virtual PTZ control, interrogation of recorded images and powerful search function.

The Vista eclipse DVR records the entire 360 deg 3-megapixel image so, when played back via a Vista eclipse camera the recording contains all the information from the original scene. This makes it possible to electronically PTZ as if viewing live images - all while recording continues.

By using retrospective ePTZ the whole recording can be examined in detail so no critical information is overlooked. An event can be reviewed using different views and screen formats to make certain that the event has been witnessed in its entirety.

If required it can then be recorded on any conventional recording device to the analogue output.

Search for events or data/time is achieved via a zooming/scaling timeline and it includes an activity detection feature.
