Judges’ comment
The Group was on-site on the Monday morning after accepting the order on Thursday. One week later all materials and equipment were delivered to the site. It planned and completed installation of the first battery room for the building after only 2·5 weeks of the project starting, and successfully co-ordinated and interfaced with the other contractors on installation and design.
and the runners-up...
Dodd Group (Eastern)
Formed in 1994, 55% of Dodd Group (Eastern) turnover is now based on partnerships. The success of its partnering and project management skills were highlighted on a recent project where a composite medical facility had to meet both UK and USA Healthcare Standards. Co-ordination and liaison with the client and its construction partner ensured completion on time and to standard.
Drake & Scull Engineering
Around 45% of Drake & Scull's contracting division's work involves partnering. The firm is also applying the principle to its supply chain, and current arrangements with suppliers account for 60% of its total spend. Its recent projects include Cardiff Arms Park where an 18 month reduction in construction period meant close management was needed to meet deadlines to standard.
