The Duke of Westminster's property company Grosvenor is on the hunt for one or more facilities management partners to help it deliver a range of support services to occupiers of its 300-acre London estate.
Grosvenor is undertaking a review of potential partners with the help of Chesterton Consulting.

Julian Milne, director of commercial property for the estate told TheFB that the company hopes to complete its research into service offerings and partners by the end of the year.

'We do see ourselves going into partnership with a facilities management provider,' he said, adding that options would be narrowed down within three weeks.

Milne is leading the project alongside Grosvenor director of residential property for the London estate, Oliver Fenn-Smith.

Grosvenor has looked at growing its service offerings in the past — including drawing up plans for a package of hotel-style services for 40 Grosvenor Place, originally envisaged as a multi-tenant site before it was let to a single occupier.

However, its current plans include offering services to occupiers on traditional full repairing and insuring lease terms as well as directly managed property.

The move reflects a new approach by landlords and property companies.

Traditionally, most have been reluctant to get involved in more than a narrowly defined range of property management activities.

Offering support services is regarded as a way to maintain tenant loyalty.

Other property companies that have broadened their service offering include business park operator Arlington, Stanhope at Chiswick Park and Greycoat at Tower 42.
