The interdependence of prices relative to building costs has always amused me (Petrol enters the cost equation at the BCIS, QS News, 11 August).
The use by BCIS of petrol prices as guestimates are far too variable and will give distorted results.
I use the price of plaice, chips and peas at my local pub as my guide: £2.75 10 years ago is now £6.95.
