Employers should help build homes for their employees to ease the housing crisis, according to a report from property consultant ATIS REAL Weatheralls.
The report said public sector employers should contribute £1000 per employee each year.

This would help pay for rented homes for key workers and the authors say the cost would be offset by savings made through increased recruitment and retention.

The report came as the Audit Commission revealed that the public sector faces a recruitment and retention crisis and urged the sector to find new ways of encouraging workers to stay.
