Four innovations designed to raise standards and increase efficiency on site
Safer transport for roof trusses
Manitou has introduced a special attachment for telehandlers that should make it safer to transport roof trusses. The jib keeps the trusses high off the ground without having to extend the boom. This should improve safety because telehandlers tend to topple when they're driven with the boom extended and weighed down with a load. The jib, costing approximately £2000, could remove the need for a banksman when transporting trusses. Call 01202 825331 for more information.

Turn on a dime
Managers in the City of London and anyone working on a site with tight access will appreciate King's fully steered low-loader trailer. The full steering means it cuts in about 2 m less than the non-steered trailer. That means delivery of heavy machinery can handle tight corners with much greater ease. A number of haulage firms have already ordered one of these trailers for themselves, and it's proving particularly popular with demolition companies, who are building up their own fleets to deliver equipment around the country. King is prepared to customise its trailers for individual customers. For more information visit www.kingtrailer.co.uk

Quicker digger
You can expect a marked improvement in digging work undertaken by certain JCB backhoes. The 3cx and 4cx models now feature the Powerslide, which allows the excavator arm to slide from left to right. This shaves minutes off tasks like changing attachments and getting the machine positioned precisely.

Fast travel boom
You can now travel 80 ft up in just 50 seconds thanks to a new articulating boom lift from JLG. The 800 series sets a new industry standard by linking two separate lifting actions, so that the boom doesn't have to be retracted for it to be lowered or raised. It's this ability to rise up in one arc that saves time for the operator, and, over the life of a project, should show up as increased productivity. For more information visit www.jlguk.co.uk
