The Hoxton Apprentice in east London will train 48 unemployed people each year in cooking and service skills.
The restaurant is part of London’s first Prospect Centre, an initiative developed by charity Training for Life, New Deal for Communities project Shoreditch Our Way and the Corporation of London. The centre includes business training facilities and a martial arts academy.
Profits from the restaurant will go towards funding the rest of the Prospect Centre.
Eight more Prospect Centres are planned for London.
