Mentor Business Systems, based in West Yorkshire, survived an arson attack thanks to early detection by BT Redcare.
A fire had been deliberately started in a rubbish bin in the access lane underneath Mentor's converted offices, with the aid of petrol and old carpet. The flames went into the upper floor of the building, catching electrical and telephone cables on their way.

Because the company had BT Redcare installed, the fire was quickly detected and an alarm generated immediately. As a result of the speed of detection, the damage was contained and kept to a minimum.

Mentor Business Systems was founded by Keith and Dorothy Hatfield 15 years ago. It specialises in computer systems for the security and fire industry including TurboCAAMS, ARC alarm monitoring software and a service management system, CASH.

Dorothy said: "Our sincere thanks go to BT Redcare as we have much to be grateful for."
