The Scottish Executive has announced that regulation of the security industry is to be extended to Scotland.
The announcement was made by the Deputy First Minister Jim Wallace at the Scottish Agricultural Rural Development Centre near Edinburgh after Mr Wallace presented the BSIA Scottish Security Officer Awards.

The BSIA welcomed the move, saying there had been a growing trend for security personnel to take on a broader range of responsibilities.

But it needed to be built on a solid regulatory framework to instil confidence in relevant authorities and the general public.
