'Over the six months to 31 March 2001, prime industrial centres have experienced varying levels of rental growth, occupier demand has dropped slightly,' said Naomi Couchman, UK Research at Jones Lang LaSalle.
On average industrial rents have increased by 5.8 per cent. The highest prime industrial rent in the UK is in Slough at £10 per sq ft, followed by Woking and Guildford, where rent is £9.75 per sq ft.
In the office sector there has been a slight decrease in rent levels due to the forecast economic slowdown in the US and the troubled telecoms, media and technology sector.
The highest office rent for the year was £35 per sq ft in Hammersmith and Maidenhead.
Retail rents on London's Brompton Road reached £575 per sq ft pa.
