Access control has been one of the more buoyant sectors of the security alarms and systems markets in recent years, according to a new report from market analysts, MBD.
The report also forecasts growth for the sector. "The UK access control market is anticipated to demonstrate consistent real term growth throughout the five year forecast period up to 2009, with annual growth levels fluctuating between 1 per cent and 4 per cent," MBD said. "Overall demand is anticipated to increase by 14 per cent in real terms between 2004 and 2009. The most buoyant sectors are projected to be integrated systems, advanced network systems, and asset tagging systems."
The report says the value of the UK access control market in 2004 was around £566 m.
The report suggests that on-line equipment sales are expected to increase by 16 per cent in real terms between 2004 and 2009, while audio/video entry system equipment sales are expected to continue to account for 33 per cent of the total access control market. A slower growth rate is forecast for stand alone systems.
"Sales of stand alone systems are reaching a certain level of maturity and further growth opportunities are expected to remain limited in this sector," the report says.
"Between 2004 and 2009, sales in this sector are expected to increase by 7 per cent in real terms."
The report is priced £550. Tel 0161 247 8600.
