A government task force is targeting workplace driving after figures show that driving a company car is almost as dangerous as coalmining.
Presently there are no safety regulations for fleet-drivers, but a special government task force on work related road safety looks set to recommend changes later this year.

Speaking at the recent Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa) conference in Birmingham the group's secretary Sharan Bains said figures show 30 per cent of road deaths involved people driving for work.

The annual probability of occupational death for a person who drives 25,000 miles for work is one in 8,000 — for coalmining it is one in 7,500.
