Road works: This plan by architect Austin-Smith:Lord is designed to tackle the problem of building houses on major roads. It is working on 13 such sites in west London. Bedrooms, living and dining rooms will face away from the road and ventilation systems will provide fresh air. The plans form part of an exhibition called Urban Interventions at the London Architecture Biennale, which runs until Monday.
