With Christmas well and truly over spare a thought for some Romanian builders who are already in a bit of hot water, after geese ate the walls of the school they were renovating.

According to a report by press agency Ananova, geese munched away at the polystyrene panels they had installed on the outer wall of a school in the Risesti village.

Its mayor, Constantin Negru, believes the builders were responsible for failing to protect the panels until they were covered with mortar. He told a Romanian newspaper: “After all a goose is just a goose. This project was financed by the public budget and I don’t blame the birds for the damages. It’s the builders’ fault because they didn’t take care of their work.”
