The third annual conference of the Strategic Alliance Partnership (SAP) – between construction firm Taylor Woodrow and m&e contractors Rotary, NG Bailey and Staveley – was the stage for the announcement that in four years the alliance has a total order book worth over £1 billion (including 21 completed projects, 27 current and 22 on which SAP is the preferred bidder).

Taylor Woodrow Construction managing director Andrew Wyllie said: “The organisation is still at the start of a long journey, but we remain passionately committed to collaborative working as the best way to deliver the quality improvements demanded by construction customers.”

Wyllie added that single-source tendering was the next logical step in the evolution of this approach. “Four years ago we had nearly 3000 supplier organisations working for us, but today that is down to less than 200,” he said. “We are able to give them a far larger share of our work and as a result have a much better chance of getting the best people working on our projects.”
