Carey Jones Architects has won planning consent for the first two phases of Scarborough's £120m North Bay development.

Stace is QS on a project team that includes developer Benchmark Leisure and services consultant Cundall.

Phase one of 770,000 sq ft development The Sands includes 100 private apartments, commercial space and a residents' gym. The Carey Jones masterplan also includes a water park, a hotel and possibly a casino.

Work on phase one starts in June and ends in August 2007. Contractor and structural consultant are yet to be named.
