Millions of extra pounds will be spent by the Scottish Executive on social housing as part of its three-year plan to fund stock transfers and offer 18,000 new and improved homes.
Among the executive's spending plans, it will give Communities Scotland £238m this year, rising to £248m for the next two years.

And it has allocated £87m, rising to £127m in the third year, to fund stock transfers of 70,000 homes from councils to housing associations.

David Orr, director of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, supported the funding for stock transfers but called on the executive to use some of it for major renovations in areas of serious disrepair.
