A security officer working for the Boots chain has received the highest commendation possible in Securicor’s Security Officer of the Year Awards.
During the three years that Jay Anderton has been on assignment at the Boots store in Liverpool City Centre, he has personally apprehended 150 criminals (including at least 50 persistent ‘hardcore’ offenders). Officer Anderton’s tenacity is estimated to have recovered at least £20,000 worth of goods each year and, as a result of his efforts, the Liverpool branch is set to become a dedicated training centre for all new recruits.
A Special Award went to Stan Gibson, a Securicor ADI shift controller responsible for 60 officers at Heathrow Airport.
Regional winners in the Awards scheme included John Catchpole (central region) and Bam Bello (south east), while Darron Smith picked up the retail security officer prize.
